Perimenopuase

Perimenopuase

Submitted by: Dragica Brayovic, Adv. Dip. Naturopathy

Client: 54-year-old female, Perimenopausal, Hysterectomy (uterus removed)

Initial presentation: Client presented with fibromyalgia pain, IBS, weight gain, low energy, hot and cold sweats predominantly during the day. Sometimes hot sweats would wake her up at night but most problematic during the day. She has described her hot sweats as “raging”.

Herbal formula:

Trifolium pratense (Red clover) 1:2 - 40ml
Actaea racemosa (Black cohosh) 1:2 - 40ml
Dioscoria villosa (Wild yam) 1:2 - 80ml
Zizyphus spinosa (Zizyphus) 1:2 - 40ml

Dosage: 7.5ml morning and 7.5ml night, with or without food.

Additional recommendations: Herbs were used specific to the hot/cold temperature spikes, every other symptom was treated with supplementation and diet changes. She is now feeling herself again, like she did 20 years ago, she is over the Moon!

Follow up: Previous to herbs had her on gut support supplements with no significant change to hot sweats/flashes. Two weeks after taking herbs her hot and cold sweats reduced, not getting as many during the day. Every two weeks there would be improvement. After 6 weeks (present) no cold sweats, only hot sweats, which have significantly reduced in amount and severity. She is really happy about this!
