Client: 30-year-old female
Initial presentation: Mum with two young five-year-old girls, presenting with exhaustion and insomnia with no more than 3-4 hours interrupted sleep per night due to waking, she has then trouble getting back to sleep. Low mood is also present and she feels constantly stressed and overwhelmed. She has previously tried magnesium and valerian with no noticeable change.
Herbal formula:
Withania 1:2 (Withania somnifera) 40mL
Passionflower 1:2 (Passiflora incarnata) 40mL
Saffron 1:20 (Crocus sativus L.) 30mL
Magnolia 1:2 (Magnolia officinalis) 60mL
Motherwort 1:2 (Leonurus cardiaca) 30mL
Liquorice 1:1 (Glycyrrhiza glabra) 10mL
Dosage: 5mLs up to 4 x per night, if required.
Start with 2 x 5mLs one hour or so before bedtime.
Follow up:
Two weeks on, getting to sleep better, and staying asleep every second or third night, will try 7.5ml 2 x before bed and will take another dose if needed if wakes from there.
Has noted fewer feelings of stress and overwhelm during the day and getting to sleep is taking less time.
